About

IBIS Contemporary Art Gallery opened December 1st, 2021. The owners and co-directors, Margaret Davis and Louis Marinaro moved from Ann Arbor Michigan, where they were both studio art professors at Eastern Michigan University (Margaret) and The University of Michigan (Louis). Aside teaching, and now directors of IBIS, they both maintain active studios and have a substantial national and international exhibition records.

They were drawn to New Orleans unique and thriving art community and believed it to be the best place to open a gallery. They look forward to contributing to an already rich and diverse culture that the city offers.  They are proud to be members of the Arts District of New Orleans where the gallery is located on Camp street, between Julia and Girod. A former costume shop, the building and their first floor space has been beautifully restored and is wonderful for exhibiting a wide variety of artworks.

Drawing from their connections as artist and professors, and developing new ones, the directors have brought together an exceptional and varied group of national and international artists to exhibit at IBIS. Exhibitions featuring one and two-person exhibitions are regularly on view in the main gallery space, while a smaller room exhibits a sampling of artists affiliated with the gallery.

Aside representing artists, IBIS offers the following services: Consulting, portrait commissions, and sculpture restoration.
